SZA Reveals That Her Next Album Will Be Her Very Last

We might not get much more from SZA after the TDE singer drops her sophomore effort, as per her new interview with Flaunt Magazine, where she admits that the upcoming set will indeed wrap up her discography.

In the New Fantasy Issue cover story, the R&B siren opened up about the follow-up to 2017's Ctrl, admitting that she hasn't started crafting new material just yet. "I've been talking sh*t to myself on different topics every day for the last week, which is typically how I start—coming up with little catchphrases in the car on the way home," she explained. "I'll be like, 'Cute.' Then I'll be like, 'I think I'm ready to write and start recording.'"

Unfortunately, her update on the new collection arrived with the early warning of how she's feeling nowadays. "I'm still miserable," she admitted. "My world got so much smaller so fast. I have so much to write about. I feel like I'm in a cage. I'm making the best album of my life for this next album and I know that... because it's going to be my last album."

Now, SZA delivered the line with a grin, but it's not the first time that she's openly spoken about the idea of early retirement. After getting frustrated with Top Dawg Entertainment over the continuous delay of her debut album, she sent out that infamous "I actually quit" tweet. Oh, and as it was mentioned in our previous interview with the star, music has never been a lifelong passion for the chart-topper. We'll have to wait and see if the singer actually keeps her word, but in the meantime, we can only hope that she starts to feel a little more liberation with her creative juices.
